The New York State redistricting commission has announced proposed new lines for State Senate and Assembly districts. The Center for Urban Research has converted them to a format compatible with computer mapping software and online maps, available for downloading.

November 16, 2011 – The New York City Labor Market Information Service (NYCLMIS) at the CUNY Graduate Center, along with the New York State Department of Labor and its other research partners, completed a groundbreaking study to answer these questions. In keeping with the priorities of New York State’s Energy Plan, the Green Jobs Study focused on industry clusters that are most involved in energy efficiency and renewable energy: Construction, Building Services, Professional Services and Component Manufacturing.

Entitled THE STATE OF THE UNIONS 2011, the report highlights the continuing strength of organized labor in New York – especially in the public sector – despite the many challenges unions face in the context of the anemic economic recovery.
CUNY maps for NYC and LI updated with Hurricane Irene impact info

Two interactive mapping sites for NYC and Long Island have been updated with areas of greatest risk of impact from Hurricane Irene. The NYC map also shows evacuation centers. The maps should be especially helpful if NYC.gov web resources are unavailable.

Maps from the Open Accessible Space Information System (OASIS) developed by the Center for Urban Research are on exhibit this summer at the Center for Architecture in New York. The exhibit, titled "Mapping the Cityscape," runs through the end of August.
