CUNY maps for NYC and LI updated with Hurricane Irene impact info

Friday, August 26, 2011:  The CUNY Mapping Service yesterday and today enhanced two of its online mapping sites as a public service to help New Yorkers and Long Islanders prepare for the potential impact of Hurricane Irene.

For the OASISnyc mapping site, we upgraded the mapped layer of storm impact zones, and also added the locations of the city's official hurricane evacuation centers.  The image at right depicts the updated map.

LIIndex_HurricaneIreneFor the Long Island Index mapping site, in collaboration with the Long Island Index project team, we expanded the storm impact zones to cover Long Island's south shore, which may bear the brunt of the hurricane based on the latest tracking information.  A news release for Long Island is linked above.
