EVENT BACKGROUND
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) produces quarterly estimates on the rate of change in employer costs for wages and benefits, as well as measures of the cost per hour worked that employers spend on their wages and a number of different benefits. BLS makes data available for the nation as a whole and for various industry and occupation groups. A few years ago, BLS began releasing quarterly data on the rate of change in employer wage and benefit costs for selected metropolitan areas, including New York.
Beginning June 10, 2010, data on the cost per hour worked for wages and benefits will be available for New York and other metropolitan areas. Please join us for a presentation by and Q & A session with William J. Wiatrowski, Associate Commissioner for Compensation and Working Conditions, BLS.
The presentation will cover a variety of BLS wage and
benefit measures, with emphasis on these newly available data for New York.
